Poland Spring works with local communities to be a responsible, engaged and responsive neighbor to minimize the impact of its operations in ways that are important to its neighbors while maximizing benefits to the local community.
Since 2000, Poland Spring has given over $3.3 million. Our giving is focused in 4 general areas:
- Environment: As a natural resource company, we are committed to supporting environmental stewardship. Some of these include financial and volunteer support of water education programs — to groups like Ferry Beach Ecology School and Gulf of Maine Research Institute's LabVenture! Program — as well as conservation grants to protect watersheds and natural systems in communities where we have operations.
- Health and Wellness: In addition to drinking water, physical activity is key to a healthy lifestyle. Poland Spring supports programs across Maine that promote physical fitness, especially among young people.
- Emergency Relief: Bottled water is critical in the event of an emergency. In addition to our partnerships nationally with organizations like American Red Cross and AmeriCares, Poland Spring also supports local organizations and the Maine Emergency Management Agency here at home in times of natural or man-made disasters when clean drinking water is needed.
- Addressing local needs: Because local needs vary greatly, we empower each of our three Maine bottling plants to support worthy causes within their areas of operations. For example, every year the plants award a total of $20,000 in "Good Science Scholarships" to area high school seniors heading to college with an interest in careers in environmental or earth sciences.
